Soham Grammarians: Mr AW Lowe, Latin 1948

Soham Grammarian Spring 1948

It gives us great pleasure to welcome the two new masters who joined us in January. Mr AW Lowe has taken over Latin, which is now a four years' course, and Mr EH Tabraham is in charge of Handicraft. We hope their stay with us will be long and happy.

Soham Grammarian Autumn 1948

Unhappily Mr Lowe is leaving us this term. Most of the VIth Form will connect memories of Mr Lowe with "Geneva", and it is very fitting that he should leave such a pleasing association behind. Not only will Mr Lowe be remembered for his dramatic work, but also for his connections with cricket. He proved a very great help at the nets, and his own performance with the bat in the last Staff v. School match will long remain a vivid memory, especially for members of the 1st XI. To boys who are in neither the 1st XI nor the VIth Form, Mr Lowe will be remembered as the Latin master, and all that this phrase implies. His teaching has always been of a high standard, and though he takes a slightly unpopular subject he has endeared himself to everyone. On behalf of the whole School we wish Mr Lowe the very best of luck in the future.
