A disappointing season at Senior level, but a season of triumph for the U14 XI.

Pride of place in this report rightly and deservedly goes to this year's U14 XI. Their record:- Played 6, Won 5, Drawn one, Lost nil. In most cases the games won were won by convincing margins, and a fine victory at King's Lynn was the crowning climax of the season. Much will be expected of King, Brown, Walker, Hatley and others in seasons to come.

It is hoped to arrange a few U15 fixtures next season in order to keep together this promising team in preparation for their entry into the First and Second Elevens in 1969.

The 1st XI played eight matches, won one, drew three, and lost four. The side lacked a batsman of the calibre of Bussingham, and although Bent and Barnett showed promising ability at times, sufficient runs were never really forthcoming. Matches are only won if a side can score sufficient runs quickly, whether batting first or second. Scoring runs quickly involves taking calculated risks and spotting the bad ball quickly. Batsmen will be out making mistakes, but one hopes that they will learn by their mistakes and continue to pursue the goal of positive batsmanship. It is not a sin to lose one's wicket attempting to score runs.

This year's 1st XI lacked this ability to score quickly; therefore, their chances of winning many matches were slim. Parr bravely bore the brunt of the bowling with only Seaton offering him any really effective support. Next year, with increased strength, Parr should be a valuable asset, but his task will be made difficult unless there are more runs on the board than there have been this season.

The 2nd XI played two matches, losing both, but the 'A' XI (next year's probable 1st XI) won their one match against Newmarket GS convincingly.

Inter-House Cricket Senior: Hereward. Middle: Ridley. Junior: Cromwell.
