Old boys' share memories

About 60 former pupils of Soham Grammar School got together on Saturday for their annual reunion and dinner.
Chairman for the evening was Mr Arnold Tomalin who greeted guest speaker, local estate agent Eric Fretwell.

Among the guests were former, headmaster Mr Edward Armitage who was head for about 20 years [sic] up to 1972 when comprehensive education was introduced and the Grammar School became the Village College, and Mr Leon Kitchen, formerly a history teacher, who travelled from his home in Newcastle for the reunion.

Event organiser Mr Roger Lane said he had been particularly pleased to see several old boys at the reunion for the first time. "They had not been back to the school since the day they left and of course their former form-mates were surprised and delighted to see them," added Mr Lane.
