Soham Grammarian Autumn 1949
One afternoon this term an aeroplane was to have landed on the school field. Masters must have found their forms in the New Buildings less attentive than usual, for every time an aeroplane was heard, necks were craned to see if it was going to land. At last the 'plane arrived; it was a monoplane. It circled around and then came in. Instead of landing, however, it rose into the air again. Twice it did this and then the pilot must have decided that the field was not big enough, for he landed his 'plane several fields away.
