Day, Robert: It is always a pleasure to hear of Old Boys, especially some of the "Older" Old Boys - many of whom are in "far away places, with strange-sounding names". Mr. Robert Day, recently awarded the M.B.E. (Civil Division) for services to Education, writes from Southern Rhodesia and speaks of the happy memories that he "treasures highly; he hopes to pay a visit to the school when he is able to make another trip to England."

Robert Day, a pupil in the time of Mr Mould (1901), was recently awarded the MBE (Civil Division) "for loyal, disinterested and distinguished work during twenty-seven years in the education department of the Public Service." He began his colonial teaching in Rhodesia in 1921 and having retired in 1948, he now lives at Salisbury. (Soham Grammarian Spring 1949)
