Roger Smith 56 updates one of the 2004 Dinner photos showing Robin Armitage - can you fill in the other blanks? With the Newmarket Open Air Swimming pool site again in the local news a note from Charlie Phelps 50: When I heard in December 2008 that the open air swimming pool at Newmarket had closed permanently, I remembered very well going to the pool once a week with SGS during the months of May, June & July. It used to be pretty cold most of the time as we had early morning sessions. After swimming we used to shower and then put a penny in the Brylcreem machine and get a large dollop which we put on our hair. We all left looking like typical 1950s teenagers with our greasy hair combed back. I should imagine other SGS pupils have more vivid memories of the pool? The editor looks forward to hearing from you.
